WRITER and broadcaster Anthony Adolph is set to shine a spotlight on Roman Somerset in a talk at the county museum in Taunton.
The centrepiece of the Museum of Somerset’s is its so-called ‘Low Ham’ Roman mosaic, which dates to around 350 AD when it was crafted as the floor of a Roman Villa in Bath.
The artwork depicts the tragic story of Aeneas and at an upcoming talk at the museum, life in Roman Somerset, and its inhabitants interest in the tale, is set to be explored.
Residents are invited to join Anthony Adolph, broadcaster, royal commentator, genealogist and author of In Search of Aeneas – Classical myth or Bronze Age King? in a “fascinating afternoon digging deep into the multi-layered origins of one of the Museum of Somerset’s greatest treasures.”
His talk is set to address the story of Aeneas, and consider whether it is a work of fact or fiction - and examine the poignancy of its place in Roman Somerset.
Set for Friday, June 14, in the Museum of Somerset in Taunton, the event will also see Mr Adolph making himself available to sign his book, In Search of Aeneas, for fans.
