CROWDS thronged the streets of Wiveliscombe on Sunday when the annual, and much-loved Street Market and Carnival, took place.
Glorious sunshine smiled on traders who did brisk business, selling a great selection of local food, drinks and crafts.
Jubilee Gardens became the stage for every kind of music, from Wivilele, the local ukulele band, to rock bands and community choirs. Visitors could not have been more entertained.
The charming Wheelbarrow Carnival clowned its way through town mid-afternoon, to the delight of the crowd who saw circus interpreted in colourful and fun style.
Children became trapeze artists, human cannonballs and sequined lion tamers – no real lions present!
Chief guest, the Mayor of Taunton Deane Cllr Catherine Herbert, did not have an easy job judging all these delights but the first prize was taken by Wiveliscombe Brownies, who became a Big Top.
Wivey people excelled themselves this year and made the street market one of the major events in the 10 Parishes year.
