A builder's merchants with depots in Wellington and Wiveliscombe is raising funds for a local children's hospice charity.

RGB Building Supplies has announced a partnership with Children's Hospice South West which will see the firm organising branch-wide fundraisers over the next 12 months.

The hospice charity was founded in 1991 to provide care for young people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. It operates three hospices across the South West, and has a shop in Wellington High Street.

Paul Courtney, Director of Fundraising at Children’s Hospice South West, said: “We are so pleased that the staff at RGB have selected us as their chosen charity for this year. Across the South West we support children and young people living with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.

"We provide day visits, resilience stays for the whole family, end-of-life care, bereavement support, and the team also offer home visits and virtual support. This would not be possible without the generosity of supporters like RGB, which will ensure we make the most of short and precious lives across the South West.”

Jenny Naylor, Managing Director of RGB, said: “We are proud to announce Children's Hospice South West as our charity of the year. Their incredible work to provide care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families is truly inspiring.

"As a company, we believe it is important to give back to our community and support those in need. We’re honoured to support the charity for the next 12 months and have some exciting fundraising ideas in the pipeline to contribute to this worthy cause.”

The charity runs the only dedicated children's hospice in the South West. The sites cost £11 million per year to operate, with the vast majority of the charity's funding coming from voluntary contributions.
