A RECENTLY reopened pub in Holcombe Rogus hosted its second successful gig featuring Wellington-based artist Kiera Alice Chard.
After a music-filled opening night, solo vocalist Kiera Alice Chard was the second artist to perform to a lively audience at The Prince of Wales Inn on Saturday, October 12.
Pub owners Paul Cross and his partner, Niki, said they were pleased with the turnout for the evening.
Paul said: “We had a really busy weekend with some great feedback on the music and the pizzas.
“We enjoyed hosting lots of live music before moving to the Prince of Wales and are keen to make this a regular thing, together with quizzes and other fun events.
“We are trying to put on music events once a month but if it goes well we would like to go to fortnightly.
“We have gigs planned for November and December, including the ‘not to be missed’ Holcombe Christmas lights switch on,” which will take place on December 6, Paul said.
The publicans discovered Kiera Alice Chard when she sent in a demo tape which they said sounded great, so they decided to book her in.
Kiera is a performer based in Wellington and has worked all over the UK as well as appearing on screen in productions from ITV, BBC, Amazon Prime and Netflix.
She said: “It was a really good night. The pub is lovely, and I received a warm welcome.
“Everyone seemed to be having a good night, and it was really nice to be performing at a new venue.
“Fingers crossed I will be booked again in 2025 - watch this space.”
The pub has recently introduced regular pizza offerings from Thursday until Sunday, with a food truck a usual fixture on a Tuesday evening from 5pm-8pm.
The couple have confirmed a full menu will be coming soon.
Paul and Niki are also hoping to play host to a small shop with prospective funding from Pub is The Hub, a not-for-profit organisation which offers grants to public houses to diversify services.
