AN unnamed new owner of the former Tui travel agency offices in Wellington town centre has turned a £36,000 profit on the premises in less than four weeks.
The three-storey terraced building was bought at a Clive Emson auction for £129,000 on November 2 and almost immediately put up for sale again with a different auctioneer.
This week, somebody else bought it for £165,000, a fortnight before a second online auction was due to be held by Bristol auctioneers Hollis Morgan.
A spokesman for Hollis Morgan told the Wellington Weekly a pre-auction offer had been made and accepted, something which happened quite often with online sales.
The premises, next to Wellington’s JD Wetherspoon public house the Iron Duke, offers 3,276 sq ft of floorspace and was said to be ripe for ‘residential conversion’.
It has a retail unit on the ground floor with office space on the second and third storeys.
