A DOG lost in the Culmstock area has still not been found, despite the owners bringing in sniffer dogs, motion cameras and a drone.

Owner Laura Cooper, who lives in the centre of Wellington, is now publicly appealing for any information or sightings of her missing pet, Maisie.

Laura is urging people to check their barns, outbuildings, garages and sheds for any sign of Maisie and contact her with any information. (Laura Cooper (sent in))

Maisie, a small Jack Russell, went missing on Tuesday 6th of September whilst out on a walk in the Culm Davy woodland area. Laura said: “We rescued Maisie from Northern Ireland last year. We don’t know her history except that she was very malnourished when we got her. It took her a few months to come out of her shell but now she is the most loving and happy dog.”

After witnessing a dog attack on another dog Maisie panicked and ran away. It is feared that she has gone into ‘survival mode’ when a dog’s primal instincts take over and even their owners are seen as predators to hide from.

“We think she was seen 20 minutes after the dog fight running toward Wrangway.” Laura added.

Since she has been missing, Laura has had the help of two dog charities who provided unconventional methods of searching for a lost dog.

Sniffer dogs, motion cameras and even a drone have been deployed to assist in finding Maisie and various sightings have been reported.

“We’ve even had a drone out searching for her but it’s a needle in a haystack, especially as she is so small,” said Laura.

“We desperately need sightings to work out where she is. It is very important that people don’t try to catch her as she will run and back into hiding.

“We think she is in survival mode so it’s very unlikely she would come to us when called.”

Laura is urging people to check their barns, outbuildings, garages and sheds for any sign of Maisie. Laura said she is very grateful for the support from local communities. She said: “So many people have been helping, which we are very grateful for. Please keep an eye out for Maisie when on walks.”
