A MAN has been found dead today (November 22) by police searching for a missing person who had been working in Wellington.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary issued a missing persons alert on Tuesday, two days after the man was last seen.
They gave his name only as ‘Rangarirai’ and said he had not been seen since leaving his accommodation in Norton Fitzwarren at about 6.15 pm on Sunday (November 19).
Police said the 53-year-old was also known as ‘David’ and asked anybody who saw him to call the 999 emergency number.
But late on Wednesday (November 22) they said a body had been found in the Norton Fitzwarren area that afternoon.
A police spokesperson said: “While formal identification has not yet taken place, his family are aware and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
“We are grateful to everybody who has helped by sharing the appeal.”
Senior Somerset Coroner Samantah Marsh will be informed of the death and an inquest will be held at a later date to determine how the man died.
