POLICE are mounting extra patrols after a spate of criminal damage incidents affecting customers and staff of Morrisons supermarket and its car park in Taunton.

Three incidents happened last week at Morrisons, which is just off the A3038 Priory Bridge Road, in which 13 parked vehicles had their windscreens smashed and a number of the store’s windows were also broken.

The same man is believed to be responsible for all of the attacks.

The incidents being investigated include:

  • Wednesday, December 6, at about 5 pm a man used an unknown object to smash windscreens of 13 vehicles

  • Thursday, December 7, several windows of the supermarket were broken at about 3.05 am

  • Saturday, December 9, at approximately 5.15 am a further 11 pf the store’s windows were smashed

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: “At this time we believe all three incidents to be linked.

“The neighbourhood team is aware of the incidents and are conducting extra patrols in the area to try to identify the person involved and prevent further crimes.”

The man involved in damaging customers’ cars was described as white, of a large build, about 6 ft 2 ins tall, and was seen wearing a long white coat and boots.
