Police have issued an appeal after a man carrying a baby was hit from behind by a van.
What is believed to be a grey Ford Transit van is said to have mounted the pavement near Oake Primary School, colliding with the pedestrian before driving off.
The incident happened at around 3pm on Monday, as children were departing from school.
The van was travelling through Oake from Hillcommon when the collision occurred and is thought to have been travelling over the speed limit through the 20mph zone.
Police are now calling for witnesses to come forward to help identify the driver.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We received a report a man suffered bruising to his elbow after being struck by the wing mirror of a van which had mounted the pavement at Oake Close in Oake at around 3pm on Monday, April 24. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to phone 101 and tell the call handler they're phoning in relation to log 626 of April 24.”
It is believed the baby escaped unharmed from the incident.
