THE sudden death of a young mother in Wellington sparked a major emergency services response on Tuesday (August 8).
The woman, who was aged in her 30s, was found dead at a LiveWest social housing property in Cornhill this morning.
Her death was being treated by police as 'unexplained'.
Police were called to the property by ambulance personnel at 10.45 am, with the incident being attended by two South West Ambulance Services NHS Trust land ambulances, a paramedic car, and four Avon and Somerset Police cars.
Officers immediately cordoned off Cornhill, which connects Fore Street to North Street along the rear of the town's Wetherspoon public house The Iron Duke.
The cordon was later lifted as the incident was scaled down but police officers remained on the scene to investigate the circumstances.
A police spokeswoman said: "Immediate next of kin are aware and have our sympathy in their loss.
"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and police are carrying out house-to-house and other inquiries pending the outcome of a post-mortem examination."
The spokeswoman said anybody with information which could help to establish the circumstances of the woman's death should speak with officers at the scene or call 101 and give the reference number 5223190531.
The 42-home LiveWest housing development was completed at the end of last year with the first tenants only moving into the new homes in January and February this year.
