PLANS to expand Westpark business park with 16 new units have been submitted to Somerset Council.

Summerfield Developments has submitted the planning application for 16 new light industrial units at the western edge of the site, near the Western Counties Roofing branch.

The Westpark 26 business park lies on the A38 West Buckland Road on the southern edge of Wellington, a stone’s throw from the Jurston Fields housing development and junction 26 of the M5.

The business park has seen significant growth in recent years, and is now home to a Shell petrol station (with a Subway branch), a car dealership, a Toolstation branch, a McDonald’s restaurant and a Costa Coffee drive-thru – with a KFC due to open shortly.

The units will be arranged in two blocks of eight, providing more than 3,000 sq m of space for small local businesses.

A total of 54 car parking spaces will be provided within the site.
