HUSBAND and wife Piers and Liz Langdon have become the Hemyock benefice’s newest lay ministers.
They were licensed at a service in Exeter Cathedral led by Bishop of Plymouth the Rt Rev James Grier.
A total of eight new lay ministers from across Devon were licensed by the bishop with friends and family gathered for the occasion.
Members of the benefice’s churches in Hemyock, Clayhidon, Culm Davy, and Culmstock also enjoyed the splendour and the warmth of the licensing service in the cathedral.
There was an opportunity for those currently serving as licensed lay ministers across the Diocese of Exeter to renew their ministry vows.
Lay ministers work in a voluntary role within mission communities alongside clergy and other ministry team members and have a broad remit including preaching, teaching, and leading a variety of outreach and ministry activities, and spend three years on a South West Ministry Training Course.
