RESIDENTS at Lodge Close, Wellington, are fed up with motorists living elsewhere parking their vehicles in the cul-de-sac, often without thought for the disabled and elderly.

Jane McManus and Sylvia Rowland say the problem has become so bad they plan to bring up the matter at the next town council meeting.

Van and car owners park across dropped kerbs, on white lines and outside the houses of residents, which prevents them from parking outside their own homes.

Jane Mcmanus, who suffers from bad sight, said: “Some drivers come into the close to clean their cars or to work on them and sometimes to spray them.”

One driver comes into the close at 4.50am on a daily basis and regularly wakes residents. He was once approached to be more quiet but replied: “If you do not like it, move.”

The parking is so bad at times it makes it difficult for the emergency services, it is claimed. Some cars and vans are left for weeks while the owners go on holidays.
