THE manager of the Oxfam shop in South Street, Wellington, has retired after 12 years of loyal and dedicated service.
The shop raised more than £800,000 under the tenure of Janet Govier for the charity which aims to end poverty, injustice and inequality in the world.
New manager Andrew Debieux held a farewell party on Thursday evening which most of the volunteer team – who have notched up 297 years’ service between them – attended, along with family and friends.
Oxfam area manager Penny Townsend presented Janet with flowers and gifts from her colleagues and Caroline Debieux presented her with tokens and flowers from the volunteer team.
The highlight of the evening was a reading of a poem written by Sue Adams, a core volunteer with over 30 years’ service.
Oxfam Wellington is always looking to recruit more volunteers to fill the shifts of a very busy
shop.
Anyone who has some time to spare can phone Andrew Debieux on 01823 667031 or email [email protected]
