A PLASTIC-FREE shop offering a ‘unique experience’ to customers is set to open in Fore Street, Wellington, towards the end of the month.

Gary Todd and his wife Kate have lived in the town for 15 years and are starting up their business in the shop which was previously Paprika.

“It all started when my wife visited a shop in Totnes and we thought why don’t we do this in Wellington,” said Gary.

“I was working as a manager at Wellesley Hospital at Chelston, so I’ve always been in business. It’s about good customer service and knowing what people want.

“Plastic is blighting the countryside.”

Customers will be able to bring their own containers to purchase groceries such as flour, sugar and rice. The store will also have a ‘wet’ section where cooking oils and washing detergents can be bought.

“Once we get a better understanding of what people want we can explore our options,” Gary added.
