A new play area in the Longforth Farm Estate has opened after months of delays.
Some residents had raised concerns over the area's multi-use games area, fearing that footballs could be kicked over its low fences and hit children playing on other equipment.
However when the Wellington Weekly visited the site parents told of their joy in having access to the new facilities.
One resident of the estate said: “The fencing came down during the week sometime. It is great for the kids, mine love it. I do not know why they kept it closed for so long.
"It is ncie for the little ones to have somewhere to play."
The play area's multi-use games area provides a space for children to play a range of games, including basketball and football.
