Wellington has welcomed Sheldon Hancock as the town's new community warden.
As the town's warden Sheldon will be carrying out maintenance on town council assets such as the Basins Allotments and Tonedale play area, as well as working to help set up town council events.
The council have also purchased a brand new Nissan Townstar van to help her get around the town for work - a fully electric vehicle complete with town council branding.
Dave Farrow, Wellington's Town Clerk said" “It is my great pleasure to welcome Sheldon to the Wellington Town Council team. We look forward to working with her and seeing the Wellington community benefit from the role.
"We believe that this is a role that is going to grow in the coming years as we take on more responsibilities from Somerset Council. It also means that we can be more flexible in how we respond to matters around the town rather than relying on contractors who can’t always be as flexible as we need them to be.
"I would like to thank James Hunt, Sales Executive and Wellington Nissan for their support in choosing a van for our Community Warden and for their excellent service throughout.”
