A RESIDENTIAL street close to Wellington’s St John’s Parish Church remained cordoned off by police on Sunday (September 8) following an alleged stabbing attack.
A man living in Churchfields was said to have suffered multiple stab wounds in the incident, which happened late on Saturday night.
Neighbours said they believed the alleged attack was ‘drug-related’.
One said: “They tried to get into his flat and that is when he was stabbed.
“We don’t think he has died, but we don’t know what his condition is.”

Churchfields can reached from a footpath which runs alongside the parish church and also from a roadway linking it to Longforth Road.
But police cars and tape was blocking the access points to Churchfields on Sunday.
Scenes of crime detectives and a police forensics officer’s van could be seen immediately outside the flat, with pieces of broken glass on the tarmac carriageway.

Avon and Somerset Police has been approached by the Wellington Weekly for a statement on the incident.
