WELLINGTON have won the Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Chris
Bullock Championship - gaining their 24th title in 25 years - after
winning the division on Thursday of last week.
They made the title safe by defeating the defending champions Scuppas
by 17 pins at Wellington Football Club.
Scuppas enjoyed a first half lead of two pins, but Mowers came back strong in the second three
hands. First Darren Winter started them off with a 13 spare followed
by Nigel Dobson hitting a 25 double flopper, helping Mowers to an intimidating
81 hand, with Mowers finishing on 386. Scuppas required three
69 hands to tie the game but struggled to keep pace with Mowers in the
second half. A decent total of 369 for Scuppas in the end was not enough
to upset Mowers.
