A NUMBER of motorists escaped injury after a two-vehicle collision near the town centre resulted in a heavy emergency services response.

Two vehicles collided in Mantle Street in Wellington, resulting in the road being closed for around two hours.

The Ambulance Service deployed a double crewed land ambulance and a doctor to the scene, where they were join by police officers.

One of the vehicles had to be removed from the scene by a vehicle removal truck.

The incident, which took place on Thursday January 4, resulted in no injuries or arrests.
