A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after police responded to a stabbing attack in a rural village.
Simon Baker, 56, of Creedwell Orchard, Milverton, appeared in Taunton Magistrates Court on Friday (August 4).
He was accused of one count of attempting to murder a person.
Baker was taken into custody by police on Wednesday, August 2, following reports of an assault in Creedwell Orchard, a council housing estate built for retirees.
The assault happened at about 4 pm in the afternoon with police arriving on the scene within about 10 minutes.
Magistrates committed Baker to appear in Taunton Crown Court on Friday, September 1 and remanded him in custody.
The victim has not been named but is believed to have been known to Baker.
Confirming the charging decision, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Simon Baker, 56, of Milverton, appeared at Taunton Magistrates Court on Friday, August 4, charged with attempted murder.
“The charge relates to an incident at an address in Milverton on Wednesday, August 2.
“Baker was remanded into custody and is next due to appear at Taunton Crown Court on Friday, September 1.”
