A LOCAL “low cost” loan provider has claimed a top prize at the Somerset Business Awards.
Bradford-On-Tone-based firm, Lendology, has won the ‘Environmental and Sustainability’ award at the annual county-wide contest.
Speaking to the Wellington Weekly News ahead of a ‘glitzy’ awards do in Weston-Super-Mare, Emma Lower, CEO at Lendology CIC, said: “As a certified carbon neutral organisation, we are thrilled to have been nominated for this Award in recognition of our continued efforts to minimise our impact on the environment.
“We are also able to evidence how our lending to homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of homes across Somerset is also supporting Somerset Council move towards its net zero goal.
“It is encouraging to see the green agenda being pushed into the mainstream, and we are looking forward to celebrating with Somerset Chamber and all of the other finalists at the upcoming Awards night.”
Wellington-based document control firm Synertec had also been shortlisted in the ‘large business of the year’ category, but was pipped to the post for the top spot by Bridgwater & Taunton College who claimed the award on the night.
Somerset Chamber Chief Executive, Emma Rawlings, thanked everyone who had supported the awards. She said: “We have some amazing businesses in Somerset and it was fantastic to be able to honour just some of their achievements.
“We know many have faced some extremely challenging trading conditions again this last 12 months, so it was encouraging to hear about the successes of our finalists and winners and to be able to help them celebrate through the awards.”
