MOST local businesses in Wellington will be closing their doors for at least a time on Monday, in a show of respect for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Nearly all of the town’s business will be closed or opening slightly later on Bank Holiday Monday, 19th September, the day of the Queen’s funeral. This weekend will be one of mourning, reflection and remembrance as the country say our final farewell to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.
Out of the 15 businesses we asked, 14 decided to close as a mark of respect whilst others have posted on social media with changes in opening times.
One shop owner said: “It will be like a ghost town on Monday in the town centre.”
Meanwhile the windows of shops and businesses around the town have been adorned with pictures of Queen Elizabeth, flags and flowers, as the country mourns the loss of the longest serving Queen.
