WELLINGTON artist Diane Goring has had her sketches displayed at a week-long exhibition in a “Pop-Up Shop” in Fore Street.

The exhibition showcased a captivating collection of her paintings and sketches, drawing in numerous passers-by throughout the week-long display.

Many people not only admired Goring's work but took the opportunity to engage in some painting themselves, contributing to the exhibition's resounding success.

Diane, says that her work "is ultimately about people, social issues, and injustice”, and she raised the sum of several hundred pounds from the exhibition, which has been donated to three charities: Friends of Wellington Park, Wellington Hospital League of Friends and Transition Town Wellington.

The Pop-Up Shop is funded by the Wellington Town Council.

Anita Roy, chair of Transition Town Wellington, accepted a cheque for £200 from Diane on behalf of the group and said: "We're tremendously touched and grateful to Di and people like her for their support,"

She continued: "The money is of course very necessary for our group, but more than that it's the feeling of being connected and nourished by the community.”

“Creativity, generosity of spirit, compassion and love for the natural world - these qualities shine out in Di's work, and that's exactly what our world needs more of right now."

Last year, Diane's work was shown in the well-known Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing exhibition in London - so it resonated for her to give the cheque at Trinity Orchard churchyard.
