THE start of this year’s Remembrance Tide and the launch of the Poppy Appeal in Wellington is next Thursday (October 26).
A fortnight later, the town’s Royal British Legion branch will be in Wellington Pop Up Shop – but only for one week, from November 6 to 11.
It means all wreath orders must be collected from the pop-up shop between November 6 and 1 pm on Saturday, November 11.
The branch this year is going to try something new with its Field of Remembrance, as happens with the Legion in London, where anybody unable to attend in person can submit a request for a remembrance cross to be placed in the field.
Requests can be made via any of the poppy collection stalls in Asda, Co-op, or Lidl, or the pop-up shop, from November 6, which is the day after the field of remembrance dedication.
Alternatively, a request form can be found on the Wellington, Somerset, Royal British Legion branch Facebook page or its website, under the remembrance tab.
It will run until Monday, November 14, with the branch asking only for a donation to the Wellington Poppy Appeal.
Anybody who would like to assist with this year's Poppy Appeal collection should contact organiser Lyn Trickey by calling 07721 335076.
