THE landlord of the building in which ‘The Pub’ operated in Wellington High Street appears to have given notice that the lease has been terminated.
The business, which has been closed for a number of months, was last week seen with signage posted by building owners Tasman House Developments, which declared they had ‘re-entered and secured’ the building.
A notice warned that any entry, without the landlord’s permission, could amount to a criminal offence and result in prosecution.
It comes after business owner Karina Macri made a ‘heartbreaking’ decision to close the business earlier this year, when she disclosed losses had resulted in tens of thousands of pounds.
The ‘microbar’ business opened in 2021, taking over from a former bakery, but Ms Macri said rising prices and competition from Wetherspoons meant the business had become ‘unsustainable.’
News of The Pub’s closure earlier this year was met with sadness by local residents, with locals ‘gutted’ to see the back of the business.
