WELLINGTON residents are being urged to claim priority for new social rented flats which are being developed in the town centre.
The upstairs space in the former Kings Arms public house, High Street, is being renovated into four social flats by Falcon Rural Housing.
The downstairs of the property will become a town council-controlled community space, due to open in the spring of next year.
The flats are currently under construction and are due to be finished early in 2025.
Falcon chief executive Sam Southam this week emphasised her desire for the flats to be prioritised for local people.
Families from Wellington and the surrounding parishes who are struggling with their rent and cost of living expenses were urged to use the Home Finder Somerset site here to apply for priority.
Ms Southam said she ‘does not want local people to miss out on the opportunity’ and would love to see the space used to help those in need.
