A Wellington woman is 'over the moon' after finding her ruby ring which she lost while in town.

Tracey Fewings lost the ring, which had been given to her as a birthday present from her late mother, while shopping on Wednesday morning.

The Wellington Weekly issued an appeal to help find the ring which was found later the same day.

Expressing on her relief Ms Fewings said: "I am absolutely over the moon it has been located.

"I really thought I was not going to be seeing it again.

"I was very distressed at the time because it was of sentimental value to me, it was not about the monetary value."
