Mother of three Jill Sims is running the London marathon in memory of her late husband, Dave Sims, who died suddenly of a heart attack last year.

Dave Sims was a rugby star who played for the England team and the Exeter Chiefs before taking on the Wellington first team as its manager in 2009, where he remained until 2013.

Under his leadership Wellington won the Devon and Cornwall League and the Somerset Vase, earning promotion to Western Counties West.

Last year Dave passed away at the age of 52 when he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on the way to meet his three children.

Jill Simms told Cornwall Live: "On the outside Dave looked fit and healthy, but sadly his post-mortem revealed he had coronary heart disease. The only comfort was knowing that it happened quickly, and he wouldn’t have been in much pain.”

Now Jill is training to run the London marathon in his memory, and to raise awareness of heart health and circulatory diseases.

The marathon will take place on April 23, with Jill set to join a team of 700 British Heart Foundation Runners who are taking on the 26 mile run to fundraise for the heart health charity.
