A hurricane fighter aircraft is hoped to fly over Wellington later this month.
Although often overshadowed by the famous spitfire planes, Hurricanes were responsible for downing 60 per cent of enemy aircraft during the Battle of Britain.
The flyover had originally been scheduled for Saturday, June 17, when The Rifles are awarded The Freedom of Wellington.
However it is believed that the plane was requisitioned for the King's birthday parade, which will take place on the same day.
It is now hoped that the flypast over Wellington will take place on Armed Forces Day, on Sunday, June 25.
