AN elderly person became trapped in their parked car after a Volvo had ‘driven on top of it’ during a freak incident at a supermarket car park.
Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the collision at the Morrison’s supermarket off Priory Bridge Road in Taunton this afternoon (February 5).
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at around 12.30pm and a recovery vehicle arrived at the scene shortly before 2.30pm.
Dozens of people took to social media to speculate about the incident, while several bystanders looked gathered at the scene of the incident.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed nobody was injured and other vehicles were involved.
A statement from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 12:28, we responded to a road traffic collision in Morrison’s car park in Taunton, where a vehicle had driven on top of a parked car, trapping an elderly person.
“We successfully freed the individual from the car underneath and assisted in recovering the vehicle on top. No one was injured, and the incident was handed over to the police at around 2pm.”
