Somerset Council is urging residents to 'be a good egg' this Easter as it issues guidance on how to dispose of festive egg packaging.

Council issued guidance states that cardboard boxes should be flattened before being placed in the black recycling box, aluminium foil should be scrunched up and placed in the blue blag, along with the plastic mould.

However the council has warned that chocolate bar and sweet wrapper, plastic bags and thin plastic film is not recyclable from the kerbside.

It advises that this waste can be dropped off at some Supermarkets which are enrolled with the terraCycle scheme. Stores participating in the scheme will have a recycling point where soft plastic packaging can be deposited.

Changes have been announced to bin collections this week. There will be no bin collections on Bank Holiday Monday, with all collections scheduled for Easter week set to take place a day later than usual.
