THE House of Cake was full of festive cheer as it served up the winning recipe to scoop first prize in Wellington Town Council’s best Christmas shop window competition.
The Mayor of Wellington, Cllr Marcus Barr, and the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Catherine Govier, were delighted to go along to the bakery and café in High Street on Monday (December 18) to present the winning shield and certificate.
Owner Lesley Retallack said she was'over the moon' to win the competition.
“It’s lovely to see people come along – especially the children – and look at the shop window display and enjoy what they see,” she said.
The House of Cake looks fantastically festive with decorations galore and inflatable friends and a singing chef, as well as a Merry Christmas archway at the entrance.
Runners-up in the competition were H. T. Perry & Son & Granddaughter and Quick Vapes 4 U; both being in Fore Street. They both received certificates from the visiting Mayoral party.
Cllrs Barr and Govier congratulated everyone who took part in the competition – the first one to be organised by the town council – and thanked them for helping to make Wellington look festive.
