SOMERSET county councillor for Blackdown & Neroche Ross Henley says County Hall has told him the number 20 bus service through West Buckland will cease in July.
Devon County Council last week followed Somerset County Council in deciding to withdraw its support for the service.
Mr Henley, a Liberal Democrat councillor, said: “It’s ludicrous of the Conservative-run county councils in Devon and Somerset to stop the West Buckland bus service.
“Many residents rely on that bus to go to the doctors, to shop, to socialise or use the library.
“I am asking council officers to talk to bus operators to try and continue a bus service for the village.”
He said bus company figures showed the West Buckland bus had an average of 240 journeys a week.
