COURT Fields Community School staged its biggest ever party as pupils past and present, staff and governors celebrated the school's 50th anniversary this week.

The guest of honour was the High Sheriff of Somerset, Mrs Pat Hunt, who was joined by the Mayor and Mayoress of Wellington, Andrew and Jackie Govier.

They were treated to displays of work currently being done at the school during a tour the building which included the recently completed sports hall.

Mrs Kathleen Phillips, who was presented to the Duke of Wellington at the official opening of the school 50 years ago, current pupil Justin Mair, and Isabel Sparks who is due to become a student in the autumn, together cut a birthday cake specially made for he occasion.
