WELLINGTON’S acclaimed Pop Up Shop will set a new record next month when more than 50 local crafters have their wares exhibited in it.

The ‘Handmade Pop Up Shop’ will make its Christmas return on December 4 for two weeks, after not being part of the festive season run-in for the past two years.

Organiser Alice Burns will front the shop for more than 50 different local handmade crafters who have taken concessions in it.

Mrs Burns said: “This is a record for us, it is the most bookings we have ever had.

“It speaks volumes about the popularity of the Pop Up Shop that there is such huge interest among crafters who want to take part.

“There are so many really talented people in Wellington and the surrounding communities who are running small crafting businesses.

“Thanks to the town council’s initiative in starting up the Pop Up Shop, they are going to benefit from a seasonal boost in trade which in turn will be good for the town economy as a whole.”

The handmade crafters will be in the Pop Up Shop from December 4 to 16 from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm daily except Sundays, and there will also be late-night shopping until 7.30 pm on Thursdays December 7 and 14.

More information about the handmade pop-up shop is available on its Facebook page, which also has an online pre-order photo album to allow people to start shopping and collect their orders from the shop when it opens.
