The company had sought permission for the construction of an industrial unit to store, maintain and distribute portable toilets.

The application went before Wellington Town Council, before being decided upon and approved by Somerset Council. The town council resolved to recommend the scheme be approved, despite raising concerns over "possible issues with odour during cleaning and maintenance."

A single storey building with a floor space of 304 metres is now set to be constructed behind machine hire firm, Speedy Powered Access. Apart from construction, the development is expected to create six full-time jobs at the facility.

In comments submitted to planners on behalf of A1 Loo Hire, McConnell Planning said the grey metal clad warehouse would be built so as to "assimilate appropriately within the landscape."

"The location of the site in close proximity to Junction 26 of the M5, makes this an ideal site for the proposed use as it affords excellent connectivity to the south-west region."

The Westpark site was built in 2007 for use as a business and light industry employment site.

However it has since changed to a mixed use development, as local authorities awarded permissions for a series of retail, food, and leisure outlets to begin trading at the estate.

Among the businesses which have already been approved are McDonald's, Costa, Subway, Budgens convenience store, two gyms, a Shell petrol station, and the medium-secure mental health Wellesley Hospital.
