IN a historic decision, plans for 503 new houses at Longforth Farm, Wellington have been approved.

The decision, by Taunton Deane Borough Council's planning committee last night, also pave the way for the first phase of a new northern relief road for the town, a long-term ambition of Wellington town council and many people within the town.

Together, the proposals form the largest development undertaken in the town in many decades.
