ST MARGARET’S Hospice Care has announced the return of their New Year’s Day Dip, now entering its fourth year.

Taking place on Minehead Beach, this growing tradition continues to attract participants eager to brave the refreshing waters of the Atlantic.

St Margaret’s are encouraging participants to dress up in their favourite costumes for the dip which will kick off at 8.30am on January 1, with the infamous dash to be the first in at 9.30am.

Each participant will receive a hot drink to enjoy post-dip, and any attendees that raise £45 or more for St Margaret’s will be given an exclusive bobble hat to keep cozy.

The hospice hopes to raise £10,000 to support their work providing essential end of life care.

For every 3 people that raise the minimum sponsorship, this could fund the visit of a community nurse to someone like Bob, stepfather to Holly, who passed away after a 14-month battle with bowel cancer in the care of the tireless St Margaret’s nursing team.

Holly said: “There were hundreds of people on the beach, all happy, and you just know that probably everyone there has lost someone and has a connection with St Margaret’s.

“It was fun, and it brought us out of that sadness.

The ticket price covers the cost of the event, but any additional sponsorship raised will go directly to supporting St Margaret’s Hospice Care.

Tickets are £7 and can be booked online
