A MAN accused of a murder in Wellington last month has made a new appearance in court.

Nicholas Stutt, aged 33, of Laburnum Street, Taunton, has been charged with killing Lewis Smith, aged 30.

Mr Smith, who also lived in Taunton, was stabbed to death in Jurston Lane, Wellington, on February 7.

Stutt, who has since been held in custody, appeared in Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday, before Judge Edward Burgess KC, for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

He was remanded to attend the Bristol court again on June 16, when Judge Peter Blair would be sitting.

A provisional date for Stutt’s trial was previously set for August.

Mr Smith suffered a single stab wound at a Jurston Lane house and died despite the efforts of paramedics to save him.
