WELLINGTON town councillors will pay a silent tribute to one of their former colleagues when they next meet on December 2.
They will remember Janet Reed, who served on the council for more than 10 years, including as deputy mayor.
Mrs Reed died last week in Linden House after a short illness. She was aged 81.
Wellington Mayor Cllr Janet Lloyd said: “I was extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Janet Reed.
“She was a wonderful person and a very dedicated and committed councillor for Wellington, doing all she could to make the town a much better place for its residents.”
Mrs Reed, who also represented Wellington on the former Taunton Deane Borough Council, was pre-deceased in 2021 by her husband Derick.
Her family is holding a private funeral service, with any donations in her memory going to the RSPCA’s West Hatch Animal Centre via funeral directors H. Tredwin and Son.
