BOTH Wellington fire engines were mobilised when a blaze broke out in the kitchen of a house in the town on Friday night (March 28).

The fire was started by a pan left on a cooker hob, which was removed before the two fire crews reached the property.

The firefighters quickly tackled the incident, which was first reported at about 9.15 pm, using two sets of breathing apparatus and a positive pressure ventilation fan and checking for any hot spots with a thermal imaging camera.

The crews also ventilated the property, which suffered heavy smoke logging damage.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesperson said the cause of the blaze was believed to be accidental.
