Firefighters battled a blaze near Wellington on Wednesday afternoon.

Fire crews from Wiveliscombe and Wellington were called to East Nynehead at 2.36pm, where a garage connected to a property was ablaze.

At least two fire engines were on the scene, in addition to at least two of the brigade's cars.

The fire was tackled with hose reel jets, with crews dragging out debris from the scene at around 4.30pm when the fire was said to be under control.

As the fire was winding down, firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to check for any remaining hotspots at the site.

The road running through East Nynehead was closed to traffic at both ends, but by around 4.40pm it was expected to open 'soon.'
