WELLINGTON fire station has appealed for the public to support the crew’s training - and would also like to borrow pets or livestock.
In an appeal issued on social media, a spokesperson for the station also asked people to volunteer venues which would be suitable for fire fighter training.
The spokesman said: “We are looking for help from our local community. Our Station trains twice a week on a Monday and Tuesday evening to maintain our competence in skills crucial for our operational response.
“We are looking for members of our local community who can help provide beneficial and varied venues to help us achieve a high level of practical skills.”
Crews are reportedly looking to train on farms to better understand farm machinery and large vehicles and to practice their small animal handling skills “whether farm stock or varied household pets.”
