FORMER firefighter Jason Hawkings says he has been fighting to prevent flooding outside his cottage in Middle Green Road, Wellington, for three years.

“It keeps happening and walkers clamber along my wall which is beginning to break up,” he said. “I’ve got fed up with it.

“When it is bad the waste bins are not emptied and all the time it's getting worse.”

Jason, a firefighter for 24 years and a builder by trade, says the county council has sucked rubbish from the drains on many occasions but to no effect.

“You simply can’t get through in a vehicle when it gets bad,” he went on. “I’ve been working on my cottage for some time and it makes it very difficult at times."

Jason has been living at Byways Cottage for four years and the flooding has occurred almost throughout that time.

Somerset County Council has been contacted for comment.
