A SIX-foot tall pile of rubbish discarded in the South Street car park has been branded 'shameful and unacceptable.'
Wellington Town Councillor, Chris Booth, made the comments after reporting the hygiene hazard to Somerset Council's Environmental Health department.
Mr Booth, who represents the Wellington South ward, first alerted Somerset Council to the issue over the weekend - but the authority has yet to respond.
Commenting, Mr Booth said: "Whoever is doing this ought to be ashamed. Constantly piling rubbish up without thinking of the hygiene impact is unacceptable.
"It's very unfortunate too, that this in a public place and part a link to the town centre from South Street Car Park. I'd hate to think what visitors to Wellington think, especially as we are a town that normally has such pride in looking after itself.
"I have reported this to the Environmental Health team at Somerset Council to resolve."
