THE Wivey Show returns to The Rec, in Wiveliscombe, from 12 pm to 5 pm on August 17, with all classes free to enter this year.
The show has grown in size and entry numbers over recent years and is expected to increase again this year with more than 200 classes available to enter.
The website www.wiveyshow.co.uk has been improved and entries can be made online, with a closing date of August 10.
Each year the committee analyses which classes are popular and those needing a refresh, and in a significant change this year all classes will be free to enter.
Show chairman Kirsty Boutflower said: “We have decided to trial it for a year and see how well it is received.
“It became quite a balancing act with the entry money not covering the prize money so we have removed both although winners will still get certificates and cups as before.”
Ms Boutflower said last year saw large numbers attend and she hoped many did not enter any classes might be inspired to have a go this time.
She said: “The show is an important part of the community and after making a decent amount last year, we were able to give money back into the town in the form of donations to The Rec, St Andrew’s Church, and 10 Radio, all of whom have been so instrumental to our continued success.
“We are hoping that this year we will raise even more and spread the money further to other local good causes.
“As before we could not run this event without support from Jon and Millie, at The Bear, and are hugely indebted to them for their most generous sponsorship.
Show mascot Wandering Wanda, now dressed in Wivey Tartan, will be in various locations to promote the event.
