PEOPLE across Wellington are invited to an event for hours of fun, food and fine music.
Celebrating the rich cultural mix of the town and its surroundings, the Wellington Together event is the first of its kind for Wellington and will be held at Court Fields School, Mantle Street, on Saturday (October 26).
The event joins other Somerset towns in showcasing the communities who live and work in the respective areas.
The celebration, supported by Community Council for Somerset (CCS) and Wellington Town Council, runs from 11am to 3pm, and will be centred on the school’s main hall but events will spill into nearby open spaces.
A spokesman for the event said: “While you enjoy tasty food from across the world, watch and listen to music and dance from far and near.
“A colour dance group will perform traditional folk music from the Punjab. AfriQuan brings its music and dance from rural Nigeria to move your body and soul.”
“Closer to home in the South West, Morris Dancing will be on offer in the open air from the local Enigma Border group – but this time, they say, with attitude.
“Find out what that means and much more besides by joining in the fun at Wellington Together on Saturday.”
