THE first ‘Wellington Together’ event is set to take place on Saturday (October 26) and aims to celebrate diversity in the community.

The gathering invites residents to connect, share experiences, and celebrate diversity at Court Fields School, Mantle Street, Wellington, from 11am until 3pm

The event's team of volunteers is being supported by the Somerset Diverse Communities team at the Community Council for Somerset (CCS) which has created and delivered a number of other ‘together’ events across Somerset.

Highlights of the Day include:

  • Bhangra Dancing Workshop: Experience the high-energy and rhythms of traditional Bhangra dancing. The sessions will be led by the talented Avtar group. This workshop will get everyone on their feet, whether people are a seasoned dancer or a first timer.
  • Culturally Diverse Food: Explore a world of flavours with an array of delicious dishes representing various cultures.
  • Somerset Art Works – ‘Spinning the Yarn’ Workshop: Get hands-on with wool at this creative workshop where visitors will learn to craft beautiful pictures using wool fibres. A fun activity for all ages, led by Somerset Art Works.
  • Somerset Film – Animation Workshop: Dive into the world of animation with Somerset Film. Whether visitors are young or just young at heart, they’ll love creating their own animations in this interactive workshop.
  • South West heritage trust: People are invited to try their handa at screen printing and learning about different heritage objects from across Somerset
