A SELL-out concert in St John’s Parish Church by Wellington Choral Society was confirmation of the choir’s recent revival.
Every chair in the church was requisitioned to accommodate a full capacity audience on Friday (November 30).
The audience heard Mozart’s Requiem sung by the choral society choir with a full orchestra led by Julie Hill and under the baton of musical director Laurence Blyth.
The choral society had been experiencing a decreasing membership since the Covid lockdowns, but over the past 12 months a continuous recruitment campaign saw numbers climb.
Choir member Julie Harland said it was ‘fantastic to see so many people in the church’.
Rehearsals for Mendelsohn’s ‘Elijah’ on January 8 which they will be singing on March 29 with David Davies at the organ.
